The Mandala Project

The Mandala Project can signpost 91Ó°ÊÓ students towards practical support if you have experienced;  

  • Sexual violence, including rape and sexual assault 
  • Domestic abuse, including so called ‘honour crime’, forced marriage and coercive control 
  • Sexual harassment including stalking, unwanted contact, abusive language and behaviours on campus which create an intimidating environment 

How can Mandala support me?

If you choose to contact the Mandala Project, our advisers will listen and discuss your options with you so that you can make decisions about the specialist support you need. They can also outline your options to report to the police or make a formal report to 91Ó°ÊÓ so that you can start internal disciplinary procedures if you decide that is what you would like to do.    Our team can also assist with academic support and help you access other services within 91Ó°ÊÓ.

    To arrange an appointment please contact themandalaproject@dmu.ac.uk or call 0116 2078309. We can meet with you face to face, by phone, on Teams or via email. We aim to respond to your query as soon as possible and are available from 9.30am to 5pm on weekdays when 91Ó°ÊÓ is open. Outside of these times please call 91Ó°ÊÓ Security on 0116 2577642.

  2. Reporting

    If you are in an emergency situation and need support call 999 now. You can also call 101 to report a crime or incident to the police.

    You can report the behaviour of another student or staff member to the university or find out more about campus safety by calling 91Ó°ÊÓ Security 24 hours a day on 0116 2577642.

    You can tell the university about something which has happened to you anonymously using our .

    Juniper Lodge

    If you are in Leicestershire and have experienced a sexual assault or rape within the last 7 days please call  for advice on 0116 273 3330 as soon as you are able to. If you are not in Leicestershire, you can  near to your home via the NHS website.

    24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line

    The is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. If something sexual happened to you without consent, you can talk to an adviser via webchat, or by calling 0808 500 2222.

    Freeva

    Outside of 91Ó°ÊÓ, offer residents of Leicestershire a helpline from 8-8 Monday to Sunday on 0808 80 200 28 and can advise regarding any aspect of recent or historic sexual violence, domestic violence or ‘honour’ abuse. Freeva can refer you to local specialist services tailored to your situation, including domestic violence support and refuge.

    ANI Codeword scheme

    If you are experiencing domestic abuse and need immediate help, ask for ‘ANI’ in a participating pharmacy. ‘ANI’ stands for Action Needed Immediately but also phonetically sounds like the name Annie. If a pharmacy has the ‘Ask for ANI’ logo on display, it means they’re ready to help. They will offer you a private space, provide a phone and ask if you need support from the police or other domestic abuse support services. .

    Quell

    Qwell offers free, confidential, anonymous counselling support online to anyone aged 18 plus affected by sexual or domestic violence. Online counselling from a professional BACP qualified team is available via 1-1 text based chat sessions on a drop in basis or via booked sessions. Counsellors are available from 12noon to 10pm on weekdays and 6pm to 10pm at weekends, every day of the year including Christmas.
